Our textiles and products are handmade using traditional techniques from different parts of India. Weaving, printing, and dyeing irregularities may occur and we take pride in these unique textures and don’t consider them as defects. All our textiles are pre-washed but little shrinkage can still occur.
Hand Printed: The blocks used by our artisans for printing are hand carved, minor irregularities are a part of the process and are not considered as defects. Hand wash in mild to no detergent. Hang dry or flat dry in shade.
Organic Cotton – Linen – Khadi: Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent or gentle machine wash with similar fabrics and similar colors. Do not tumble dry. Hang dry or flat dry in shade. Iron while slightly damp.
Silk: Contrary to popular belief, Silk is good without dry cleaning. Hand wash in cold water with mild detergent and no tumble dry, no wringing. Hang dry in shade. Iron on low and inside out.
Natural Dyed: Naturally dyed fabrics are prone to bleeding in first 2-3 washes, with each changing color having its own beauty. Hand wash separately with mild to no detergent in cold water and hang dry in shade.
Hand Embroidered: All our embroidery is done by our skilled artisans on a traditional frame. Extra care needs to be taken to wash them inside out and not rub or wring them. Hand wash in cold water and hang dry usually works the best. Do not iron directly on embroidered areas.
The greatest share of energy consumption in a garment’s lifecycle actually occurs when you wash it. Saving energy and enjoying your favourite clothes longer is easier than you think.
Here are a few tips that can help reduce your garments impact on the environment:
- Wash only noticeably dirty clothes, airing and brushing them between wears will keep them fresh longer.
- Wash similar colours together and wash only full loads.
- Choose eco-friendly laundry detergent.
- Try to avoid dry cleaning unless necessary.
- Line dry or flat dry to save energy and for the longevity of the garments.
